Apple Picking

Apple Picking

Mile: 110,280 Well, this was a first for Jackson… some apple picking. We went to Averill Farm in Washington, Connecticut. It is the same apple orchard my parents took me to when I was a kid. They had all kinds of different apples as you…

One thing Jackson is sure of … every day is a good day for ice cream! Off to see one of our favorites, Hassina, and her family working hard at Carvel! Good to the last spoon!

Bridgewater Fair

Goshen Fair

Goshen Fair

Mile: 110,003

Off to our second fair of the year, the Goshen Fair! This is personally one of my favorites because … well…. Apple fritterrrrssss and Nodine’s beef jerky!!!!!! Nodine’s Smokehouse has been making beef jerky since well before I was a kid myself and Action Jackson has taken a liking to it just like his old man!

Luckily, we were able to beat the badly needed rain that came after we left.

This fair is awesome because they still have lumberjacks. It was fun to watch those high horsepower saws start up and cut through those logs like a hot knife through butter.

We of course had to take a seat and enjoy the tractor pull and our good neighbor John Hall was in it so that was fun to see. We even came back for Round 2 and entered a raffle to win our very own antique tractor. Not sure where we will put it if we win but I am sure we will figure it out!

Heather was able to get her apple crisp and chowder bowl. There was a slight emergency as Chowderheads was not in their usual location. After some anti-anxiety medication, Heather quickly realized they were still there just in a different spot. Crisis averted!

Got to see all the lego displays done by kids, fruits and veggie competition, rides, games, animals of all kinds but we missed the barrel horse racing … I told Action there is always next year!

We also got to see a magician which mesmerized Jackson and took the “Action” out of him as he did not want to leave. We also got to see a dog comedy show which as odd as it sounds had Jackson belly laughing.

After having lemonade (3 times at least), slushy, apple crisp, chowder, lobster rolls, curly fries, fried Oreos, ice cream, chicken tenders and jerky it was time to roll ourselves home!

Give us a like, follow and a share to keep up to date on our adventures. Hope your adventures were just as fun today!

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July

Mile: 109,533

It was an eventful weekend for Jackson! Wrapped up a great week at camp. Gave it all he got and as you can see from the pics nothing was left in the tank! Went to West Shore Seafood and Popey’s for ice cream. Hit up Carvel another night for ice cream, again! And more ice cream at Stew Leonard’s of course!

Saw two more fireworks shows. Went on a hike. Checked out some job sites. And don’t forget the Smores!!!!

God bless America!

56 men came forward to sign the parchment. It was noted at the time that they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honors. And that was more than rhetoric. Each of those men knew the penalty for high treason to the crown. ‘We must all hang together,’ Benjamin Franklin said, ‘Or assuredly, we will all hang separately.’ And John Hancock, it is said, wrote his signature in large script, so King George could see it without his spectacles. They were brave. They stayed brave through all the bloodshed of the coming years. Their courage created a nation built on a universal claim to human dignity. On the proposition that every man, woman, and child had a right to a future of freedom.”

Those early patriots may have come from different backgrounds and different walks of life, but they were united by a belief in a simple truth: that we are all created equal, that we are all endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

By signing the Declaration of Independence, the fifty-six Americans pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. It was no idle pledge—nine signers died of wounds during the Revolutionary War; five were captured or imprisoned. Wives and children were killed, jailed, mistreated, or left penniless. Twelve of the signers houses were burned to the ground. Seventeen lost everything they owned. No signer defected—their honor like their nation remained intact.

As we celebrate the greatest experiment in Freedom and Democracy this coming weekend, take a moment to remember what sacrifices were made for us. From the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the Revolutionary War, the founders of this nation gave all they owned for what they truly believed in. Their true sacrifice should not be forgotten.
