Here is a hill I will die on …. Kelly’s Creamery and Kelly’s Husbands Food Truck have the BEST chicken fingers. They are huge and juicy and heavenly.
Action Jacksonville got a grilled cheese which must have been good because there was none left!
We played a round of mini golf knowing that we are on the back half of the summer.
Then we cooled down with some fantastic ice cream!

Action Jackson got to start the day using the lull with Papa! Before you know it he will be running all of the machines on his own all the time!
After that we got to go back in time.
We visited the old Gaylordsville school house. It was neat for him to see how the school was one room. He was trying to wrap his head around one room for all the grades. He was in luck though as there were no longer wooden rulers so we didn’t have to explain what that was all about. I still shudder when I see a wooden spoon too!
Then we went over to an old forge to see how parts were made for wagons by hand.
After that it was off to the old Merwinsville Hotel which a bunch of volunteers have helped to restore. We used to have passenger trains that went through town and they would stop at the hotel which was also a station.
It was a good day to hear and see how our Town used to be!

Everyone please give this a like and share if you think America is the world’s greatest country as we celebrate our Independence on today, July 4th. When Jackson first asked why we always fly the flags off the back of Ole Red I explained that…

It had been a rather not good day, which is not typical in our house. It was time for a reset. Off to South Farms it was! If you recall this was where they put on outdoor concerts during Covid and my wife was able to see her favorite singer, Grace Potter, not once but twice!
We had heard about South Farms having a Thursday event called South Farms Social so it was time to check out what this was all about. They had a small little stage setup so I guy with a small amp could play his guitar.
They also had a wood fired pizza oven truck, hot dog cart and a bar you could get beverages of all kinds. Action Jackson saw his classmate Juliette from school so they wandered off to play in the creek. We highly recommend this to anyone in the area looking for a chill Thursday evening.
We then had to wash our pizza down with ice creams so off to Popeyes (one of our faves it was). Dad had to work the next day so it was back to reality.
Action Jackson is almost 8. Crazy to think but we probably only have 4-5 years more of adventures before he will be off doing his own thing with his friends or we aren’t cool enough to hang anymore. Going to make th most of it while we can!
