Destination: Toplands Farm Open House

Mile: 101,122

This may have been our most epic adventure to date! Toplands Farm has one of the largest and oldest tractor collections in New England and it does not disappoint! Weather was gorgeous with sun shining down on us and high 50’s. We took the scenic route to Roxbury and even scored some preferred parking because of Ole Red!

Action Jackson got to see his buddies Thomas and Logan as well as make some new buddies! The activities were endless with cut out barrel rides, horsey obstacle course, corn sand box, lasso training, rolling down some hills, tag and even a lil game of help get my daddy on the ground! Luckily, I was a pretty good volunteer!

They have numerous barns with literally hundreds of tractors, engines, implements and a living history barn. Don’t forget the sawmill, old school splitter, corn grinder and oh all the steam tractors! I swear Jackson got to sit on over 40 of them by the time we were done.

We filled our bellies with some hot dogs and burgers from the cows raised on the farm. They also had pigs, sheep, bunnies, chickens and even Rick and Lisa brought their goats!

How do you know the adventure was an epic success? Well in this case grass stains (sorry Mom) and a nap on the way home are the only evidence needed. Until the next adventure ….

Destination: Stew Leonard’s

Mile: 100,134

Well, it’s hump day and what better to get over him than a little adventure. We decided to drive along Candlewood Lake (largest lake in Connecticut) and venture over to Stew Leonard’s which is an over-the-top grocery store. A cheeseburger or two on the way and we were ready. It was fun to sit in the parking lot and wave to cars at the stop light. Action Jackson put dozens of smiles on people’s faces as they headed home from work. Once we got to Stews it was time for some pumpkin hunting, a hay maze, animal watching and ice cream of course! The days are getting shorter, so it was time to head home and call it a day. Don’t tell mom but we opened it up on the highway. Jackson calls it “superpower”!!!!! Showed mom our pumpkins and then hit the hay. Stay tuned for our next adventure!
